This simply is a Bug, most Status bar items can not be understood without
additional info. The asterisk in Status Bar for "Document has been modified" is
not self explaining ...

At least for most items Enhanced Tooltips do exist.

Not only Calc affected.
All OS affected
I can't see anybody working on this issue, so back to CONFIRMED
