The HMS api used by DROP STATS does not work for ACID tables (HIVE-22104), and there isn't seem to be an intention on the Hive side to implement this (Hive has no DROP STATS statement, so this api is probably only used by Impala).

As a workaround Impala could set all stats to -1 when executing DROP STATS on ACID tables.
