When a share consumer changes its subscription, this information is flowed to the group coordinator in a ShareGroupHeartbeat RPC. In return, the set of assigned partitions is received. For a regular consumer when the set of subscribed topics is being altered, it has been observed that the consumer handles situations in which data is fetched from partitions which do not match the current subscription. We should make sure that this area of the code is similarly tight, which may require discarding buffered data and releasing acquired records.
