   yes, based on [this issue](https://github.com/edenhill/librdkafka/issues/3139) linked from the PR, closing some tcp sockets with currports yielded high (~70% average) cpu usage even if there was no work to be done, tested on librdkafka 1.0.1, 1.5.0 and 1.6.0 all produced this behavior, and after applying the change in the linked PR this issue disappeared while still continuously pushing content to kafka
