Jetspeed is hanging after some time

Hi,

It appears that our running Jetspeed server seems to "hang" after some
time. If I redeploy the porlet application, I get the following in the
log:

The culprit to me looks like :

2007-08-30 21:18:55,212 INFO [org.apache.catalina.core.StandardWrapper]
Waiting for 113 instance(s) to be deallocated

Does anyone have any ideas what might be happening here or where I
should begin to look for the problem?

Yeah, putting apache ws in front solved my problem (and it wasn't even
jetspeed related). So yeah, I don't think its internet attacks.

Like I said, a shot in the dark.

David,

I as of yet haven't reproduced this in a controlled environment. I have Jmeter set up to stress it and will hopefully reproduce this soon.

Just a shot in the dark. Can you deploy it to the latest version of
Tomcat 5.5 without JBoss and see if it can be reproduced

Just a shot in the dark. Can you deploy it to the latest version of
Tomcat 5.5 without JBoss and see if it can be reproduced

RE: Jetspeed is hanging after some time

Posted by Andrew F Hall <af...@circleup.com>.
Aaron,

We're running tomcat 5.5 in Jboss 4.0.4. We have apache ws in front with ajp proxing connections to Jboss.

I don't have an any data showing whether or not there are attempted attacks but I don't believe that is what is happening. I think we have a fairly normal load.

When we recycle, it runs very well - just over time it seems to hang.

How did you solve your hang? Was it simply that you added apache in front?

- Andrew

Just a shot in the dark but are you using tomcat as your web server

The reason I ask is that I used to host a tomcat instance with no web
server in front of it and I found that all the attempted attacks from

RE: Jetspeed is hanging after some time

Posted by Andrew F Hall <af...@circleup.com>.
Could anyone confirm that this will prevent the hanging of the server? This is a very critical problem for us - Jetspeed stops after about 24 hours. Does anyone else have an idea what may be happening or tips on how diagnose the problem?
