Redundant svn servers

We are using svn+ssh. Our repository is accessed by svnserve on a machine that every developer points their URL to. The repository is on a NetApp filer exported via NFS. Today the server machine crashed so our repository is offline, even though the NetApp is still up and running. I like to ask the list for any good or bad experience setting up redundant servers.
