[jira] [Commented] (MADLIB-1396) Installing MADLib 1.16 Fails, Reporting Already Installed

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MADLIB-1396?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16980607#comment-16980607 ]

Ekta Khanna commented on MADLIB-1396:
-------------------------------------

w/ [~okislal]

Haven't seen this failure on a fresh installation.

Questions for the team:
1. Can we check if madlib rpm/gppkg is already installed:
{code}
rpm -q --all | grep madlib
gppkg -q --all | grep madlib
{code}
If either of the above commands return some value, then seems like the process might have crashed/aborted abruptly during a previous installation.
You can try cleaning up the rpm with the following:
{code}
rpm -q --all | grep madlib | xargs -I{} sh -c  "rpm -e {} --noscripts || true"
gppkg -q --all | grep madlib | xargs -I{} sh -c  "gppkg -r {} || true"
{code}

> Installing MADLib on our freshly installed two-node system (running RHEL 7.7 on bare metal) reports that MADLib is already installed, and the installation seems to have failed.

> Running the installation again also reports that MADLib is already installed, but the nature of the error is different:

> Please note that .rpm.lock is an issue during the first invocation and not in the second.
> Frequency:  This behavior happened two consecutive on clean installations on a system containing GPDB 6.1.0 with GPCC 6.0.0.
