[jira] [Commented] (LUCENE-9573) Add back compat tests for VectorFormat to TestBackwardsCompatibility

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-9573?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17311566#comment-17311566 ]

Adrien Grand commented on LUCENE-9573:
--------------------------------------

[~mikemccand] Even if we were able to write a test before 9.0, it wouldn't actually do anything until 9.0 is out since we typically only add back-compat indices at the end of the release process. So this should really be a blocker for 9.1 rather than 9.0? (Sorry, this might be what you meant and I am nitpicking, but I'm trying to get more clarity on the remaining blockers we have for 9.0. I'm happy to keep it labeled 9.0 for now since we don't have a 9.1 label in JIRA and probably don't want to introduce one or otherwise it would get used by mistake.)

> In LUCENE-9322 we add a new VectorFormat to the index. This issue is about adding backwards compatibility tests for it once the index format has crystallized into its 9.0 form
