Peculiar project files...

I have been called on to consult on a project inherited from a defunct organization. It is built upon ArsDigita source and there are a number of places that contain constructs that I am unfamiliar with:

bash-2.03$ head build.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>

<!DOCTYPE project [
    <!ENTITY commonProperties SYSTEM "properties.xml">
    <!ENTITY commonTargets SYSTEM "targets.xml">
]>

<!--
Arsdigita Standards build.xml file for ANT: http://jakarta.apache.org/ant/
Written by Bryan Quinn
Copyright (c) 2001 ArsDigita Corporation. All Rights Reserved.

-------------- snip ------------

This results in the build failure:

bash-2.03$ ant
Buildfile: build.xml

BUILD FAILED

/export/home/mjaffe/SBR/build.xml:117: Duplicate target: `combine-src'

Total time: 0 seconds

Since combine-src appears in both build.xml and targets.xml

The developers have left no documents as to how they built this. Has anyone got a clue as to how to fix this?

Mark

Off hand, I'd say: Get rid of the duplication :)

If the targets are identical, and targets.xml is included by other build
files, remove the combine-src target from your build.xml file. If the
targets are different, you'll need to change the name of whichever one
makes most sense to change. (Just a BTW -- not all inherited processes are
guaranteed to have ever actually worked right :)
