[users@httpd] RE: mod_cache status

I have been using mod_cache (disk_cache and mem_cache)with Apache 2.0.49 for 6 months now. Prior to putting it into production we did intensive testing on our server configuration and uncovered several problems that we were fortunate enough to find patches for in Bugzilla. As far as I know, the patches we applied were never were part of an official Apache release.

Recently we have done some testing with Apache 2.0.52 which cache libraries have undergone significant development since 2.0.49. Unfortunately we ran into severe stability problems with Apache 2.0.52 on Solaris (using MPM worker) that we are still trying to resolve or work around. Therefore, we compiled Apache 2.0.49 with the cache modules shipped with Apache 2.0.52 and that seems to work quite well.

WRT to the future of the caching modules, I cannot answer...

Hi. I'm considering to use mod_cache. The documentation states that the module is experimental, so I'm wondering what the status/intetions are for the module?

Anyone know where to go for details regarding this?

Thanks,

Morten

[users@httpd] Apache 2.0.52+Solaris stability issues? (was RE: [users@httpd] RE: mod_cache status)

Posted by Joel Parramore <pa...@homes.com>.
What issues have you seen stability-wise with Apache 2.0.52 on Solaris (and
what version of Solaris 9)? And was that with or without using mod_cache?
I ask because we're about to upgrade our servers to that version of Apache
from 2.0.49 (already using the worker MPM), running on Solaris 9, and if
there are some gotchas in doing that, I have some slight curiosity as to
what they might be.

Regards,
Joel
