Veloctity : setting Mime type

Hi,

Can someone let me know as to how to set mime-type. I am trying to open a document (it can be doc, xls, ppt, pps or pdf).  On click of this documents, I need to open them in a new window as per the file type.

I'm afraid this has nothing to do with Velocity. Doesn't even 
necessarily relate to java.
