Apache 1.3.22 and Tomcat 3.3 on AIX 4.3.3

I have managed to compile mod_jk.so on AIX, but whenever I now try to start
up Apache I get the following error message from apachectl:
 
./apachectl[71]: 3322 Illegal instruction(coredump)
./apachectl start: httpd could not be started
 
Can anybody tell me what I've done wrong and how to fix this?
