couch.js documentation

Can someone tell me what couch.js is and how that differs from
jquery.couch.js?

I think I can actually understand couch.js but not the jquery.couch.js]
and is there documentation for couch.js or am I just supposed to figure out what it means from the javascript?

jquery.js is used in the tests; it uses synchronous xhr.
You probably want to use jquery.couch.js
