[jira] [Created] (LEGAL-278) A change in license of JQuery

Sathwik Bantwal Premakumar created LEGAL-278:
------------------------------------------------

Summary: A change in license of JQuery
                 Key: LEGAL-278
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LEGAL-278
             Project: Legal Discuss
          Issue Type: Question
            Reporter: Sathwik Bantwal Premakumar

Hi,
JQuery release 3.1.1 is under MIT
https://github.com/jquery/jquery/blob/3.1.1/LICENSE.txt

The same github page also has a reference to website https://jquery.com/

The license link on website https://jquery.com/ points to
https://jquery.org/license/ which seems now to be ASL 2.0

We know that MIT and ASL are compatible.

*The question is from which location does one pickup the license from?*
*Do we always rely on the license under the source repository or from the referenced website?*
