I am not sure what you are thinking.
Did you read the post to the ooforum before you made the comment (if not,
please click on the link for topic 96366)?

I have no problem with all languages being available.
I just use a select few (English, Spanish) at the present and:

#1 The language option that is available in the task bar of the writer
application is NOT available in calc application.
There may have been a good reason for this.

#2 What is the purpose of "choosing" what languages I want to install when I
have to scroll through a list of uninstalled languages in order to
choose/switch between the languages I have installed???

Scrolling though a list of un-installed langues is not a feature.

My preference is to add the language feature functionality (of writer's task
bar) to the calc task bar, but it may have been deliberately left out because
of... (???).

As an alternative, only display/list the languages that have been
CHOSEN/installed for spell check purposes and hide the others.
