COM binding
Hi,
I took a closer look to subversion and I like it very much. So I want to use it. But as far as I can
see the clients are not that powerful like e.g. StarTeam. So perhaps I want to write a client on my
own (Open Source, on the windows platform). I want to use the COM bindings, but probelm is that I'm
not able to compile the whole stuff to test COM bindings. Now I have some problems/questions
1. what exactly is needed to compile the whole bunch on Win32 (which compiler/version, which 3rd
party libs ...)
2. If anybody would be able to send e copy of the compiled COM-Stuff (I suppose at the end it is
just a DLL) so that I can test - it would be great
3. Is the COM binding powerful enough to use alle features and all URL types ?
As you can read between the lines (to be honest - this seems to be the bigest problem here) I'm not
really in the details of a multiplatform C++ development project, I'm well experienced with delphi,
and I'm sure if I would understand the interface I would be able to write a working client for
subversion. So for a first test I just want to see if it is possible for me to use the COM API. If
so I will install all the needed things to compile everything and to understand the details etc.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Bernd.

Would there be any chance of it working. Else, I'm +26.78 on removing it.
It's confusing to distribute bit-rotten code.
Oh, unless someone is willing to work on it ofcourse. I hate COM, but
that's for personal reasons and shouldn't influence the project too much,
I think:-)

+1. Leave a dropping similar to what's in the "ruby" directory.

Aha. I forgot that COM stuff was there.
It was last "worked on" over three years ago by Branko... September
2001. In mid-2002, a couple of people tweaked it to stay in sync with
changing APIs. Does the stuff even work? Does it even compile?
Should we just delete it?

What about bindings/com in the repository, then? I've never tried to
compile it and I don't know if it works at all, but looking at the
filenames it looks like some COM crap^H^H^H^Hstuff. :-)

There is no COM wrapper for the subversion C API. Where did you get
that idea?
There is a .NET wrapper for the C API, however. See the ankhsvn
project.
