Uh, sounds to me like a kernel problem... the apache code doesn't
need to do anything to deal with SMP boxes.  I'm going to close
this because there's not much we can do with it really... 
any chance you can try 2.6 or solaris 7?

Thanks, won't be touching solaris 2.6 with a barge pole, should be
able to try solaris 7 in a few months during the next system upgrade.
Will let you know if it makes any difference.
