[jira] [Commented] (FALCON-772) Merge falcon/hadoop-webapp and falcon/hadoop-dependencies

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FALCON-772?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14155991#comment-14155991 ]

Srikanth Sundarrajan commented on FALCON-772:
---------------------------------------------

As an effort to reduce superfluous code or module, I think this is very welcome. However it remains to be seen, how the same can be done while retaining the ability to build for hadoop-1 & hadoop-2.

For [Version 0.6|https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FALCON/fixforversion/12326828] and later, the community has [unanimously agreed|http://mail-archives.apache.org/mod_mbox/incubator-falcon-dev/201409.mbox/%3CCAFfn_RqBdbxGgbNczJ4BYEyG1Go3NMVzAWE0Chd4d_gV3oyiFg%40mail.gmail.com%3E] to withdraw support for hadoop-1 and oozie-3.x hence it might be better to pick this up as a child task of this larger effort to drop support for hadoop-1.

> falcon/hadoop-webapp creates war files used by IT tests.
> falcon/hadoop-dependencies creates a dependency dir which has all the jars falcon depends on. When falcon server is running on a machine without hadoop, this dependency dir is added to falcon classpath during falcon start.
> Both modules package the same jars and can be combined into a single module. Please comment if there is any specific reason the two modules should stay separate.
