Thanks Jeff,

In the interest of enlightenment of those who come after me, I'll post my
rather embarassing error in this case: svk keeps all database information in
a local .svk folder.  The instructions in the "svk help intro" tutorial say
"svk mkdir //depot/path" not "mkdir /depot/path" (it seemed weird to me that
they were doing everything relative to root !) And if you attempt to mirror
a repository you have already mirrored, you get this error ("Overlapping
paths not allowed").
