[jira] [Commented] (QPID-7837) Malformed annotated messages (message format 0) can lead to ClassCastException

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/QPID-7837?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16176289#comment-16176289 ]

Lorenz Quack commented on QPID-7837:
------------------------------------

The {{ClassCastException}} mentioned by Keith does not cause the broker to "fall over" as Rob predicted. It is being caught by {{FrameHandler:207}}.
As the code mentions this is not nice and it should be caught earlier and the propper error reported so we still should fix it.
But currently we do not crash.

> As per this thread, the Broker can fail unexpectedly with illegal input.

> The implementation should be sufficiently robust to fail the connection, but the Broker service should survive.
