Splash Screen Resizing

I am building an AIR app for iPad using Flash Builder as my IDE. I notice
that when I test the app on my iPad over USB, the splash screen displays for
a second, then it downscales about 10% for a second, and then the app comes
up. It is this downscaling that concerns me and looks unprofessional. Has
anyone else ever seen this? Is there a way to correct it and stop it from
resizing???

Thanks!

actually, I am going to use "zoom" for the splashScreenScaleMode because it
maintains the aspect ratio of the image while never leaving any of the stage
unfilled(essentially cropping the image on devices that have an odd aspect
ratio, but always filling the screen with a full image)

(lol about your "controlled stumbling" definition X-DDD )

Sure? "Flex mobile splash screen resize", first result :)

BTW, you didn't say anything about the paypal thing :-P ;-)

In hindsight, yes, it does look obvious, but at the time I didn’t find it
intuitive at all. When I googled “Flex mobile splash screen” and things like
that, all I found were references to default.png sizes for iOS and how to
put the images in your project, or how to include them in ADT commands. Not
once did I stumble across any references to the Application level to handle
splash screens. Now if I take out the space between splash and screen in the
google search, bingo, you get your answer, but of course I would have had to
know the name of the functions to have a clue to do that. It seems obvious
in hindsight, but it wasn’t while I was searching. I never just pop in here
and ask a question without spending a large amount of time on the google
machine. I wish I were a much better coder than I am, but just kind of
picked it up along the way, so it just feels like an exercise in controlled
stumbling to me LOL

No problem, but I can think of a couple of PayPal URLs where you can thank
me more than enough if you wish ;)

Now seriously... didn't the name of the property itself and the reference
docs give you any hints that there could be the solution to your issue? (I
mean instead of waiting 2 days and a half for someone to answer?)

"I have issues with the splash screen scaling" ->
"splashScreenScaleMode".... wasn't it pretty intuitive?

Thanks Javier!!! For me, it looks like splashScreenScaleMode was the issue.
I changed the value to letterbox because my app will be used on iOS and all
sorts of Android tablets of which I won't know the aspect ratio for, and it
seems to be working like a charm so far. Can't thank you enough!!!

Hi bilbosax!

I do remember something similar happening to me, but I managed to sort it
out. Is it a resize or does it move down a few pixels? If the second, it
might be the IOS bar appearing, there was a setting somewhere in the app
descriptor xml to tell ios whether to use fullscreen or not (i.e. to place
the top bar transparent and on top of the app instead of resizing). If it's
a resize, I would check the splash screen assets to be the right size, have
a look at splashScreenScaleMode, splashScreenImage and preloader in your
main <s:ViewNavigatorApplication>, and maybe leave a top black space in the
splash screen to simulate when the ios bar kicks in.

Sorry about the "fuzziness" of the answer, but it was a long time ago and
it took just a couple of tweaks to solve, so I don't remember exactly what
it was.

No one else has seen this before?? I am wondering if it will still happen
when I compile my final project and put it on the app store, or if it might
be happening because of it being installed as a debug process? Regardless, I
would really like to go from the splash screen to the app without this
annoying resizing happening if at all possible.

Please let me know if any of you have experienced this before.

Thanks!!!
