XPointer elementpath scheme: arbitrary element?

Is there a way to select an arbitrary element, say <p id="intro"> from a 
file using the XPointer elementpath scheme demonstrated in the 
Aggregation samples?

Using only the syntax demonstrated, it is possible to select the first 
of a set of elements (e.g., <p>), but I was wondering whether you could 
select one by id or other attribute, or an element other than the first 
of the set.
