this quick start guide should really have installation instructions link on it: http://maven.apache.org/run-maven/index.html#Quick_Start

As I skimmed the quick start, I didn't expect the installation instructions to be on the download page.  It took me a while to figure out how to install maven after I downloaded it.  To put it another way: most software has their installation instructions on an installation page, not their download page.
