Adobe has released a version of AIR 3.7 that should work with Apache Flex. The Flex SDK is "pure AS3" and you can write application only using AS3 if you want. The issue is that the new ASC 2.0 compiler from Adobe (including in AIR 3.6 onwards) doesn't support MXML. Apache Flex has no control over this. All we can do is ask Adobe to fix this issue which they have done for AIR 3.7 and have stated they will do for AIR 3.8.
