[jira] [Created] (KAFKA-21323) Remove deprecated java.util.regex fallback for client-metrics match patterns (KIP-714)
Ojasva Jain created KAFKA-21323:
-----------------------------------
Summary: Remove deprecated java.util.regex fallback for client-metrics match patterns (KIP-714)
Key: KAFKA-21323
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-21323
Project: Kafka
Issue Type: Bug
Affects Versions: 5.0.0
Reporter: Ojasva Jain
KAFKA-15677 made client-metrics match patterns require RE2/J syntax, but kept a temporary fallback to java.util.regex (with a deprecation warning) for pre-existing patterns, to avoid breaking subscriptions already persisted before this change. This is implemented via ClientMatchPattern.ofLegacy(...) (@Deprecated(since = "4.5", forRemoval = true)) and ClientMetricsConfigs.compileLenient(...).
This ticket tracks removing that fallback in 5.0.0.
