[jira] [Commented] (MSITE-764) Introduce 'update' goal

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MSITE-764?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=17682754#comment-17682754 ]

Michael Osipov commented on MSITE-764:
--------------------------------------

I believe that this will be soon obsolete: MSITE-921 will provide a fixed publish date and you can branch off a release to fix issues which don't require a new release. [~rfscholte], WDYT?

> Quite often site documentation is published as part of the release. This means that changes to the documentation depend on a new release before being visible OR you must accept that the documentation refers to a snapshot version instead of the latest release version.
> With the update-goal it will be possible to immediately publish documentation changes without changes references to released project.
> The siteskinner-maven-plugin [http://www.mojohaus.org/siteskinner-maven-plugin/] (originally written by me) at MojoHaus contains a lot of code which can form the base for this goal.
