[jira] [Created] (HBASE-16780) Since move to protobuf3.1, Cells are limited to 64MB where previous they had no limit

stack created HBASE-16780:
-----------------------------

Summary: Since move to protobuf3.1, Cells are limited to 64MB where previous they had no limit
                 Key: HBASE-16780
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-16780
             Project: HBase
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Protobufs
    Affects Versions: 2.0.0
            Reporter: stack
            Priority: Critical

Change in protobuf behavior noticed by [~mbertozzi]. His test TestStressWALProcedureStore#testEntrySizeLimit keeps upping size we write and he found that now we are bound at 64MB. Digging, yeah, there is a check in place that was not there before. Filed https://github.com/grpc/grpc-java/issues/2324 but making issue here in meantime in case we have to note a change-in-behavior in hbase-2.0.0
