Build master back to green

Hello guys,

I have done a couple of changes to make sure the build is back to green.
Between the BVal downgrade, then upgrade, etc the build has been failing
for a week.

I have also fixed a couple of dependencies and did some Java 11 tweaks at
the same time.

Note that I upgraded to Tomcat 0.0.24 instead of 9.0.22 but I had to revert
because the async-servlet example fails with new version. I need to
investigate a bit more.
