Pelt problems en IE 6
Has anyone else noticed recent trunk builds, problems
ocurring with the Pelt skin, under Internet Explorer
6.0. The page renders fine in Firefox, but in IE the
bar below the search bar stops short, and the pdf img
isn't displayed.
I've attached an image (hope that's ok to do). I've
tried a fresh build, clean and seeded, with no changes
to default, on a FreeBSD and a Windows. I've used
various svn trunk sources from Sunday the 12th, and a
snapshot from the 13th. The problem occures both with
forrest site as with forrest run.

The same problem can be see for the forrest.apache.org website.
BTW, the subtabs are still not shown and the search box is shown
floating on top with FireFox 0.9 on the first load.

I tried last night with my old laptop (the only computer in my house
left with windows IE ;-) ) and got the pdf and fontsize working. It was
a IE css-bug.
position:relativ -> Fixed the problem (just do svn update)!
Perhaps fixing the subbar will fix the
> pdf img rendering too.
Sadly not. :(
I have there a BIG problem:
The subbar should be something like this:
+-publishedStrip-----------------------+
+ +
+ +-level2tabs--+ +lastmodified-+
+ + align: left + + align: right+
+ +-------------+ +-------------+
+--------------------------------------+
I used following code to archieve that:
<div id="publishedStrip">
<span id="level2tabs"></span>
<span class="lastmodified"><script type="text/javascript"
language="JavaScript"><!--
document.write("Published: " + document.lastModified);
// --></script></span>
</div>
and the following css:
#publishedStrip {
padding-right: 10px;
padding-left: 20px;
padding-top: 3px;
color: #ffffff;
font-size : 60%;
font-weight: bold;
white-space:nowrap;
background-color: #4C6C8F;
}
#level2tabs {
clear: both;
margin: 0;
text-align:left;
}
#publishedStrip .lastmodified{
float: right;
}
The problem is that IE *do not* floats the object .lastmodified in the
same line to the right. IE is inserting a line break and then floats to
the right.
You have send me a screenshot where the blueish part was blank on the
right end. That is actually the published note that should be in the
publishedStrip. I tried last night to fix that but dunno how.
Any help welcome! Links to IE bugfix pages or similar would be perfect.
...or simply a patch ;-).
king regards

I got it (I think). I'm grabbing the latest snapshot
to patch against that. Gimme 20mins.

Yeah, LOL, sorry my fault.
It was for testing that I set the background color to black. ;-) I just
changed that in the default color profile. You can also override the
color with the following <color> tag in your skinconf.xml.
<color name="subtab-selected" value="#E5E4D9" link="#000000"
vlink="#000000" hlink="#000000"/>
The only thing that I cannot solve at the moment (because I do not know
how) is ->3. Substrip: Still stops short.
Like I said in the other mail it has to be a IE floating bug. It is the
published note that is breaking the line. I just noticed that is not
only a IE floating bug! The only browser that is displaying the correct
result is konqueror :(.
Can you help fixing it?

Hi thorsten,
I downloaded the new screen.css and:
1. PDF image: appears [Solved. Nice :)]
2. Published Strip at top: Does not show the text,
only a very fine strip.
3. Substrip: Still stops short
I've attached an image to illustrate these points.
I've also attached another image to illustrate the
published stip problem seen in a different way. In the
samples menu, above the text Samples, there's a black
rectangle. The left half of the rectangle is linked to
samples/index.html, while the right half is linked to
samples/static.html.
Thanks for the work.

Hi, the PDF img is enabled, and it's there, it just
isn't displayed. It shows up in firefox. I also
download the page in IE and opened it in Dreamweaver,
and it's there. Perhaps fixing the subbar will fix the
pdf img rendering too.
I'll keep an eye on svn for your updates.
thanks :)

Hi Jason,
cheers for the report! I noticed in konqueror as well the subbar
rendered smaller. I know what the problem is, I will fix it ASAP.
The pdf img missing is very weird, are you sure that you have not
<!-- Disable the PDF link? -->
<disable-pdf-link>true</disable-pdf-link>
in you skinconf?
Is you do not have it can you send the source code of your html site? Or
is there still a pdf link you just cannot see it?
