[VOTE] FLIP-604: Complete VARIANT Primitive Coverage with UUID and Timestamps
Hi everyone,
I'd like to start a vote on FLIP-604: Complete VARIANT Primitive Coverage
with UUID and Timestamps [1]. It was discussed in [2].
The proposal completes the Parquet Variant primitive set in Flink. FLIP-521
[3] shipped VARIANT but only covered codes 0 through 16. FLIP-604 adds the
rest: TIME, nanosecond timestamps, and UUID. To land UUID it also adds a
native 16-byte UUID SQL type, with casts, ordering, a UUID literal, and the
UUID_V4 and UUID_V7 generator functions. No Calcite upgrade is required.
The vote will be open for at least 72 hours unless there is an objection or
insufficient votes.
Best,
Ramin
