DFDL-aware text editor?

Hello DFDL community,

When is someone going to create a DFDL-aware text editor?

IBM's DFDL product does contain such an editor.

For Daffodil, the best we have at the moment is Eclipse, which can be setup so that you get content-assist for authoring DFDL schemas much as you would for authoring any XML document where there is an XML schema. Setting this up is a pain, and you basically have to turn-off support for XML Schema authoring and convince Eclipse that a ".dfdl.xsd" file is ordinary XML.

I believe this could be improved upon, but that is what we have so far.

There has been a desire for a "Data Format Debugger" that would enable interactive development of DFDL schemas by allowing viewing of parsed and unparsed data simultaneously while editing a schema. This would want to be informed by a bunch of heuristics that examine data and suggest basic properties like charset encoding.

I don't know of anyone actively working on such things. Doesn't mean nobody is doing it though.
