Yes, I saw that. In [2c78bac4|https://github.com/apache/calcite/commit/2c78bac48bfde94c0c77e6e7bb1f95814c8b23c7] you'll see that I revived {{interface Compatible}} and used different solutions on JDK 8 than on JDK 9 and later.
