Building the source distribution

Hi all,

I know there is a pre-defined apache-release profile in the apache
parent pom, does someone know how we can use that to build
a source distribution ?

And one more question, is there documentation about how apache
projects should use maven ? Maybe a best practice maven guide
for Apache projects.

There is also some nice documentation on how maven themselves are
releasing their artifacts that might help:

http://maven.apache.org/developers/release/releasing.html

Thanks, that is a good advice, I will review these projects and see how
they are doing it. Up to now I looked a lot at UIMA.

Hello,
I asked Chris Mattmann from Tika, here is his response:

"There is a pre-defined maven apache-release profile. See the tika-parent
pom for how we are referencing this.

Also in terms of best practices for Maven for Apache projects, I haven't
seen any guides, but I'd point people to Tika. I copied it in SIS. Another
thing to look at is how we are using it in OODT as well. Those 2 projects
are pretty complex (Tika and OODT) and the SIS project should give you an
idea of how to set up your project in the Maven style."

HTH!
