RE: [jira] [Created] (FLEX-34640) Squiggly: Generate / Package RSLs and deploy with Maven

Squiggly as Components is not set yet, I selected "Runtime Shared Libraries".If someone as the Karma and the time to set "Squiggly" as Components, I'll change it.

Hi,

> In maven.xml, the next version is 1.1 (<property name="version" value="1.1"/>), is it wise given 1.0-snapshot hasn't been released yet ?

IMO Would be best to keep the version numbers in sync with the released version numbers. So yes that may mean we will never have a 1.0 squiggly in maven unless someone want to make a point release of what was released in 1.0. Given 1.0 had a serious issue in that it didn't work for Spark components may be better to skip it all together.

Thanks,
Justin

@Justin,

Thanks for the explanation.

Btw, the poms are now ok, will test the libs themselves by the end of the new week I guess (if I'm on time), once the mavenization of the project I'm working on will be completed.

@Chris

I'll try to figure out the best way too, I would like it if there is a way to do that in maven though :-)

Thanks,

Hi,

With 1.0 not sure we got any feedback if it worked or not, with 1.1 the nexus was broken and we were unable to test it. I think the pom may still require some minor changes to work. If you want to give it a try go for it.

I think I ran that manually on my machine. The other alternative would be seeing up on builds.apache.org as this is the only machine that can auto deploy without having someone's credentials configured. I only stop the jobs for parts I was actually working on. Could setup that build, if you want.

Hi Chris,

Not sure what you mean, what did you finished exactly ?

I've seen it was an Ant build to generate and deploy the maven corresponding artifacts, I even modified them to include RSLs but haven't seen any Jenkins job to run the build and deploy it automatically and therefore, I don't know how the 1.0-SNAPSHOT has been deploy to Apache Maven (probably you ran it manually because you have some credentials ?), for the releases, I can't see anything, why as 1.0 and 1.1 have been released ? can you enlighten me please ?
What is the process to release the next one, except a standard vote on RCs , what about the Maven bits ?
Should we create a Jenkins job to automatically deploy the current snapshots (currently 1.2-SNAPSHOT) ?

AW: [Maven - Squiggly] release (was: RE: [jira] [Created] (FLEX-34640) Squiggly: Generate / Package RSLs and deploy with Maven)

Posted by Christofer Dutz <ch...@c-ware.de>.
In order to release I usually added install and deploy targets. All the builds with a maven.xml file deploy to the staging repo if the release variable is set to true.

I think a release should be deployed manually.

I reverted the version as what it was before (1.1), I haven't seen we released it in a standard way with this version, now I wonder:
A- Have we got the Jenkins build for Squiggly ?B- Why a maven released versions (1.0 and 1.1) hasn't been publish yet ?

[Maven - Squiggly] release (was: RE: [jira] [Created] (FLEX-34640) Squiggly: Generate / Package RSLs and deploy with Maven)

Posted by Frédéric THOMAS <we...@hotmail.com>.
I reverted the version as what it was before (1.1), I haven't seen we released it in a standard way with this version, now I wonder:
A- Have we got the Jenkins build for Squiggly ?B- Why a maven released versions (1.0 and 1.1) hasn't been publish yet ?

Thanks,
Frédéric THOMAS

@Alex, Thanks
@Chris, any thoughts on that:
In maven.xml, the next version is 1.1 (<property name="version" value="1.1"/>), is it wise given 1.0-snapshot hasn't been released yet ?

Forget about that, just noticed player global was hard coded in the main/build.xml, I thought it was a mismatch, sorry for the noise.
<property name="playerglobal.version" value="14.0" />

[Installer] versions mismatch (was: [jira] [Created] (FLEX-34640) Squiggly: Generate / Package RSLs and deploy with Maven)

Posted by Frédéric THOMAS <we...@hotmail.com>.
Hi,
One moth ago or so, I used the Installer 3.1.0 to install flex-4.13-AIR-15, today, I tried with Ant to build Squiggly against it, I ran into something weird, when it tried to compile libs like the Spelling Framework against the player global, I received this message [1] following the failure.
Basically, it was trying to find global player in player/14.0, looking at the player directory, I realized I had no 14.0 neither 13.0 sub-folders but 15.0 instead, I thought it should be a mistake somewhere, let's rename that to 14.0, doing so, the build failed earlier [2], I said, ok, let's tried both (14.0 and 15.0 sub-folders) and was finally able to build it.
I have no time to dig into this issue but I still checked build.properties [3] and airsdk.xml [4] and noticed the mismatches between the different mentioned versions, maybe it can help you to identify and fix this problem as I guess it is general.

Thanks,
Frédéric THOMAS

RE: [jira] [Created] (FLEX-34640) Squiggly: Generate / Package RSLs and deploy with Maven

Posted by Frédéric THOMAS <we...@hotmail.com>.
I've been able to make the build generate / package RSLs and deploy them in my local maven repo, 2 things though :

1- In maven.xml, the next version is 1.1 (<property name="version" value="1.1"/>), is it wise given 1.0-snapshot hasn't been released yet ?
(I would rather set it to 1.0 until we release)
2- The RSLs can be generated from windows only at the moment as I haven't Mac or Linux to test how I could call:

			<exec executable="${FLEX_HOME}/bin/optimizer.bat"				  output="${OUTPUT_DIR}/flex-optimizer-@{swc-name}.log" append="true" osfamily="windows">				<arg value="-input=@{rsl-dir}/@{swc-name}.library.swf"/>				<arg value="-output=@{rsl-dir}/@{swc-name}.swf"/>			</exec>			<exec executable="${FLEX_HOME}/bin//digest.bat"				  output="${OUTPUT_DIR}/flex-optimizer-@{swc-name}.log" append="true" osfamily="windows">				<arg value="-digest.rsl-file=@{rsl-dir}/@{swc-name}.swf"/>				<arg value="-digest.swc-path=@{swc-dir}/@{swc-name}.swc"/>			</exec>
and:
	<!-- To remove along with the condition check in the target "extract-rsls" as soon as "optimize" and "digest"	will be setup and tested on Mac and Unix based OSes, see the MacroDef "create-rsl" -->	<condition property="isWindows"> <os family="windows" />	</condition>
	<target name="extract-rsls" if="isWindows">		<create-rsl rsl-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}/rsls" swc-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}"					swc-name="ApacheFlexLinguisticUtils"/>		<create-rsl rsl-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}/rsls" swc-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}"					swc-name="ApacheFlexSpellingEngine"/>		<create-rsl rsl-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}/rsls" swc-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}"					swc-name="ApacheFlexSpellingFramework"/>		<create-rsl rsl-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}/rsls" swc-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}"					swc-name="ApacheFlexSpellingUI"/>		<create-rsl rsl-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}/rsls" swc-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}"					swc-name="ApacheFlexSpellingUIAPI"/>		<create-rsl rsl-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}/rsls" swc-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}"					swc-name="ApacheFlexSpellingUITLF"/>		<create-rsl rsl-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}/rsls" swc-dir="${OUTPUT_DIR}"					swc-name="ApacheFlexSpellingUIEx"/>	</target>

As you noticed, to prevent running those goals from other platforms than windows, at the moment I set osfamily="windows" and even <target name="extract-rsls" if="isWindows"> until someone who have the knowledge and the time fix it, does it.
I will commit in 72h with <property name="version" value="1.0"/> if no one can confirm or infirm it is better than 1.1
Thanks,
Frédéric THOMAS
