Hi Superset community,
I'm currently working on a project where I need to connect Apache Superset to either TDengine or VictoriaMetrics as a data source. However, I'm having trouble finding clear documentation or examples on how to set up these integrations.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far:
Checked the list of supported databases in Superset
Looked for third-party connectors or SQLAlchemy dialects
Searched for community plugins or workarounds
Unfortunately, I haven’t had much luck. Has anyone successfully connected Superset to either of these time-series databases? If so:
What connector or driver did you use?
How did you configure the database connection string?
Are there any limitations or caveats I should be aware of?
Any guidance, examples, or links to relevant resources would be greatly appreciated!

@dosu I am trying to work on Superset integration with TDEngine data source and running into couple of issues.
1. Unable create charts or datasets using custom SQL via SQL Lab. Getting parsing SQL errors
TDengine Error: taosws error: Error parsing near 'H' at line 1:26
SELECT TIMETRUNCATE(ts, 1h, 0) AS ts, COUNT(*) AS `count`
FROM test.meters
WHERE ts >= '2025-07-28 00:00:00.000000' AND ts < '2025-07-29 00:00:00.000000';
2. TIMESTAMP column not showing Time Grain dropdown. It's showing empty.
Appreciate your support on resolving these issues.

TDengine is supported as a data source in Apache Superset, but there are a few caveats depending on your Superset version. The integration uses the taospy and taos-ws-py libraries, and the connection string format is:
```
taosws://<user>:<password>@<host>:<port>
```
For example:
```
taosws://root:taosdata@127.0.0.1:6041
```
If you are using Superset 4.1.2, the TDengine connector file (tdengine.py) may not be included in the setup package, so you might need to manually download it from the Superset repository and place it in the correct directory. Then, install the required dependencies with:
```
pip install taospy
pip install taos-ws-py
```
Official package support for TDengine is planned for future Superset releases (4.2, 5.1, or 6.0), but not for patch releases like 4.1.3 or 5.0.0. More details and step-by-step instructions are available in the [Superset docs](https://docs.tdengine.com/third-party/bi/superset/) and [related GitHub discussions](https://github.com/apache/superset/issues/33545).
There is currently no support or documentation for connecting VictoriaMetrics to Apache Superset, and no SQLAlchemy dialect or community plugin appears to exist for it at this time.

sqlglot.errors.ParseError: Invalid expression / Unexpected token. Line 2, Col: 21.
SELECT * FROM test.`TestQuery` LIMIT 100
2. TIMESTAMP column not showing Time Grain dropdown. It's showing empty.

@kirankv2536 Are you able to set up tdengine successfully for your use case? I followed the post to copy db engine spec for tdengine and able to resolve time grain issue. But unable to run queries like mentioned below.
