Hmm, this should work in perl:
(1\.[0-9])|(0\.9\.[4-9])
and it certainly seems to work with 'egrep'. I don't know if that
helps or not.

Why not? It's only one nightly test box. I'd imagine that all compiles
are failing if you use HEAD. This is good to know.
Some boxes should be using APR_0_9_BRANCH and APU_0_9_BRANCH to get the
latest 0.9.x fixes. But, I think some others should be trying against
HEAD, too.

s/building/supporting/, sure. But, please don't say that APR 1.0 shouldn't
be even unofficially supported by Subversion (i.e. won't build). The
'forthcoming' httpd 2.2 series will be using APR 1.0. httpd-2.0 will only
use apr 0.9.x. Subversion should support both.
Now, I'm off to finding a regex pattern to allow 1.x as well as 0.9.[4-9]
to fix this problem. -- justin

Because if I didn't, we'd obviously be in for a nasty surprise one of
these days. The thing that the 1.0 APR will be backward-compatible with
the 0.9.x APR, as long as we don't use funcitons that are deprecated in
0.9. And IIRC we don't, so that's O.K.
BTW, I don't test against httpd on those test boxes.

And I make all relesae binaries againsh httpd-2.0.47.

The question is, why is Brane doing nightly builds against HEAD of
httpd and apr?
For over a year, Subversion has had a policy of building only against
*released* httpd/apr. That's true for both Subversion 'releases' and
Subversion HEAD.

Nope.

It's that APR's HEAD now reports 1.0 not 0.9.4. (0.9.4 is now released,
0.9.5-dev is in APR_0_9_BRANCH.) We need to allow SVN to compile against 1.0
'versions' of APR. -- justin
