[jira] [Commented] (KUDU-2770) thirdparty dependencies no longer build with glibc 2.28+

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KUDU-2770?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=16849215#comment-16849215 ]

Scott Reynolds commented on KUDU-2770:
--------------------------------------

ported the changes you mentioned into patches directory:
 # llvm [https://gerrit.cloudera.org/#/c/13447/]
 # bison [https://gerrit.cloudera.org/#/c/13446/]

I could not find the actual merged commit to bison identifying the change.

I would rather upgrade these to more recent releases, I might take that up on my next pass

> the third party depndencies don't build with an OS that uses glibc of version 2.28 or higher. (e.g.fedora29)
>
> bison 3.0.4 has a problem as described here:
> upgrading bison to 3.0.5 fixes it. This also seems to make the patch in thirdparty/patches/bison-fix-high-sierra-compilation-issue.patch redundant since 3.0.5 already contains a similar condition for APPLE
>
> llvm crashes because of a missing ustat interface

> (patch available there)
