Message Priority - consuming

Is it possible for a consumer to only consume messages above a certain
priority, rather than just get them in priority order? Is so how can
this be done?

I am using ActiveMQ-CPP - latest version.

Have a look at JMS message selectors, they allow you to filter messages
based on specific properties.
