Let's considering it with BSP. M/R iterations are not a good solution.

I totally agree with you. Firstly, how about discussion with some literatures like the book 'Parallel scientific computation: a structured approach using BSP and MPI ' ( http://books.google.com/books?id=g-7e-SK9wNIC&printsec=frontcover&dq=Parallel+Scientific+Computation:+A+Structured+Approach+using+BSP+and+MPI&ei=SdZ0S9bbCKWulQTtv-XqBA&cd=1#v=onepage&q=&f=false )

Although of course all of techniques addressed in the book may not be immediately applied since Hama is based on different environments and objective, we will learn much knowledge and will not reinvent the wheel.
