[jira] (MCHANGELOG-135) Support Short Revision Numbers for Git

Steve Kallestad created MCHANGELOG-135:
------------------------------------------

Summary: Support Short Revision Numbers for Git
                 Key: MCHANGELOG-135
                 URL: https://jira.codehaus.org/browse/MCHANGELOG-135
             Project: Maven 2.x Changelog Plugin
          Issue Type: Improvement
    Affects Versions: 2.2
         Environment: n/a
            Reporter: Steve Kallestad
            Priority: Minor

In change log reports generated for git, it uses the long commit string.

Example:
path/to/changed/file v 57a61dd4d58a5882800b78d6b5694c4121550633

This makes the change log report distracting to read. Instead short numbers should be leveraged. Reference for generating and leveraging these numbers is here: http://git-scm.com/book/ch6-1.html
