help: remotely accessing CATALINA_HOME

via telnet (SSL is secure version?) can i login to a remote server to do this stuff from the command line?  i suspect that might be the easiest way to muck about with tomcat.

SSH is "Secure Shell", but

sure. :-)  However, if you're just getting started, you might find
it better to just install Tomcat on your desktop system where you
can experiment more conveniently...
