Pluto Portlet newby question

I have started to play with this tool for the past few days. I am trying to deploy a portlet on Pluto that was created using Sun's Java Creator 2. Can someone advise me on:  
* Which version of Pluto should I use?
* Is it ready for prime-time usage?
* Is there a simple way to deploy portlets - 
- With version 1.0.1 rc2, I could not find the link to the 'Admin Portlet App' at http://localhost:8080/pluto/portal
- With version 1.1.0, the process seems quite complex.
