Through ESDSWG Search Relevancy I have been doing some work on my favorite topic of federated search. 
I've known about NSIDC's Federated Arctic Data Explorer (FADE platform for a good while but never really investigated it much.
It turns out that they have an entire [Open Search API|http://nsidc.org/webservices/#!/SwaggerDocs/open_search] which enables programmatic access to arctic datasets.
OCW could benefit from the addition of a Data Sources implementation for accessing FADE data.
Talking about all of this FADE makes me want to go to the pub and get FADED!!!
