I recently implemented CoSelect Framework (http://www.public.asu.edu/~jtang20/publication/coselect.pdf) in Matlab for internal use in my school. 

As this framework is able to perform both Feature Selection and Instance Selection on social data or not, I'm thinking he could be interesting to enhance Spark ML/MLlib in these fields.
