Hi Luuk,
submitting patches with better translations is a very common way to
start contributing to the project.
You could add/change strings in the *UiLabels.xml files, create a
patch and attach it to a JIRA issue.

Now this should be even simpler thanks to the LabelManager that is
available in the Webtools application.
