[jira] [Comment Edited] (DIRKRB-109) We need a logo for the subproject

Pierre Smits edited comment on DIRKRB-109 at 3/12/15 8:30 AM:
--------------------------------------------------------------

When I look at the drawing the thoughts that come to mind are:
* puppies,
* cute,
* friendly,
* my little pony,
* something my 5 yr old daughter would like,
* and more along that line.

What doesn't jump in immediately (in relation to the context - the effort and solution(s) of the project) is values like:
* thrustworthy,
* reliable,
* mature.

We have to keep in mind that the majority of our (intended) users are persons responsible for authentication and authorization in entreprises. They have the values I outlined in in the second list (and more of that sort) in mind when looking for solutions.

When looking at the other logos of the Apache Directory project they depict the values of the product. The ApacheDS logo depicts a tree under a dome. The tree not only is a direct visualisation of what ApacheDS embodies: a directory tree. But it also reflects robustness and longevity as these are the values associated with trees. And the dome depicts shelter, safety, etc.

For this endeavour we should go for similarities.

My 2 cents.

Best regards,

Pierre

> The logo should preferably be of size 125 x 125 pixels in order to use it also as web ads (IAB standards).
