[ALC] ALC presentation for events

Hi all,

As ALC Warsaw, we are planning the next event (meetup) in June. During
our discussion, we came up with an idea to create presentation that
will be shown at the beginning of each of our events. As such it
should not take more than 10 minutes. The main purpose of this
presentation would be to remind ASF values and the ALC idea
(especially for newcomers).

Moreover, we thought that it would be nice to make this presentation
to be consistent between all ALC. What do you think about this idea? I
am happy to start working on it (will Google slides do?).

Best wishes,
Tomek Urbaszek
ALC Warsaw

Great! I love the penguin Jon Does especially.

Indeed this is exactly what I thought about :). I think it is important to
dive deeper in each of the values/concepts from the Apache Way. Ideally
with some examples from real experiences of the people talking about it -
and different people should IMHO take turns in explaining different values.

Also as Tomek mentioned, It would be great to have this all somehow
visualised (icons). It would make it much more "sticky" for the audience.

Unfortunately my graphics experience is at the -1 level more or less. :)

Re: [ALC] ALC presentation for events

Hi, I've cut a draft of the presentation. It contains mostly
informations from ALC / Apache Way sites. Let me know what you think.

Google Slides:
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1FaZd-EEr_RNVsdcMtyYbWB0EZJllqzS58xmQDQtgNu0/edit?usp=sharing

Regarding the values theme suggested by Jarek, this is how it works in
our company Polidea:
- during every, All Hands meeting all the values of your company are
mentioned (1 slide)
- one of them is chosen and discussed shortly by a board member within
the current context (new deals, world situation, meetups, etc) (same
slide)
Additionally each value is represented by an icon.

Cheers,
Tomek

Thanks Jarek for the idea, I really like it! That's something we are
using in our company and it's really nice.

Happy to help with that as well! I think that's a great idea. If we can

Re: [ALC] ALC presentation for events

Hi Tomek

This is a great idea! Having the same presentation will be a good way to ensure that we keep the message consistent.

Have you heard about the Apache Training project? It is currently in incubation and although it mentions putting together training material for Apache project http://training.apache.org/ Essentially the material is in the form of presentations and we might already have some of material in place for the general intro.

You could start working on it in Google slides and my suggestion would be that we actually convert the presentation material to be stored the material as part of Apache Training. That means that we could have a central place for people to find this and any other presentations we create.

I think we could setup the Comdev section to incorporate the different language versions so will ask the question on the Training mailing list.

Thanks
Sharan
