http session

hi

i am developing my own axis sevlet engine for the axis. i decided it to run
on the tomcat. the problem is , i have to concentrate the httpsession in my
servlet or tomcat deal with that session.
in the existing axis src code, they didn't use the httpsession in the
axisservlet. but they use the method to get the session in messagecontext
can someone explain this concept.
