Is there any way to block this flood of html stock market spam?

Tom, 

Assuming you are running SA - have you looked at the SARE community rules? The 
SARE_STOCKS rule was updated on Monday May 1st, and dose a very good job at hitting 
almost all the stock spam I get. 

You can find the ruleset itself on rules emporium:
