Fordwarding of Gerrit email to this list

Hi all,
Following up on the conversation in the general@i.a.o list, are we OK
with proceeding to start forwarding all email that Gerrit produces
(diffs of changes and new comments on changes, i believe) to this
list?

Thanks,
- Ian

Just as a note. We have the option to have a new mailing list created
for that purpose. The new mailing list might also receive JIRA issues,
Jenkins build reports, etc.

This option might make sense, if the automated traffic exceeds a
reasonable limit.

My thoughts on this is that with Spark, which overloaded with Github
emails and so forth, they eventually moved to like a issues@spark
list. You may consider doing that here with asterixdb, however for
now, let’s keep it on dev until it’s too much to deal with. This will
show that we listened and will show solidarity that we are doing dev
at Apache which is the goal.

Yes I think maybe in the near future it might be good to set up a
different list, too. Gerrit is really verbose sometimes, especially
with the Jenkins plugin. Even right now I don't get all the emails
from it, but I get enough from simply being on a few reviews that I
have it filtered.

Yes, I think that’s what we should do.
The only question is: which list? Should it be the regular dev list or another list?
I think that the dev list should be fine (and we should start with that to get things going ASAP), but I also realize that it might add a bit of traffic there that people not involved with a specific review would not have seen before.

Thoughts?

I'm going to set Gerrit to start forwarding emails now then, since
there seems to be no objections, and it's important we start recording
the information somewhere safe within ASF.

We are. (And then we can have a separate list if we become overburdened.
And meanwhile we can all do rule-based routing of these msgs into
different subfolders - which is what I've done for Google code stuff in
the past - I read or at least skim all the issues and comments but
there's a whole next level of auto-noise that I've ignored.)
Let it be so!
